keeping video content between systems

I contacted xbox chat support in regards to this question. My question was if xbox video content purchased on one system with my account could be used when I transfer my account to the next xbox system. The answer was no, because the content is stored on
the console.

This was unsettling to me. I use steam regularly for pc games, and when I make a purchase with steam I have confidence that should I wish to use the game in the future, it will be available to me when I get a new computer. When I purchase a DVD (hard copy)
and use it on my xbox 360, I can still use it on my xbox one. When I purchase content on xbox video, I should have the same ability to use and transfer the content that I purchased. I would like for there to be such a direct transfer possibility with xbox,
so that content I purchased on one console (tied to the account I purchased it with) would be available to me when I got a new console.

The only thing that I did not ask was about the removal of such content onto an external hard drive. When I purchase content on my xbox, can I remove it to an external hard drive and use it elsewhere - to include on another xbox?

Moving accounts between systems.

All you need to do is log in on your Xbox One with the same email address and password as the account on your 360. You'll log right into your account.

Have had my 360 for years, finally upgraded and got the Xbox 1 S. I have my profile downloaded off the Xbox 360ona flash drive but it cant figure out how to upload it on the new console. I want to keep my gamertag and achievements, please help.

I think that perhaps the person you were speaking with did not understand your question. When you purchase an item on the Xbox Live service (Game, DLC, Video) it is licensed to both you and your console (HOME on Xbox One console). If you load your gamertag
on another console and want to watch that video you rented/purchased there then just log into the Xbox Video option and select the video you want to watch either from your History or from your purchase list.

Did you perhaps watch a Blu-ray or a protected content video of some sort between gameplay recording working and not working? Might be worth a cold boot of the system.

Very stupid. Should we also change the content of books and movies to make sure this is in there too or just video games because they're the current scapegoat? How about parents keep these games away from kids and let just adults play them since they have
the mental capacity to distinguish between right and wrong, fantasy and reality.

MS didn't pay Bungie, they purchased the whole company. And there is a difference between something being unavailable (Halo for MS or God of War for Sony) on a different system and something being available for one system with extra content for the same
price as the same game with less content on another system.

You can do a license transfer between systems, but keep in mind it will move all of the licenses and not just the 1 for that game. So it would move all of your brother's licenses to your console. So he would have to be signed into Live at all times in order
to access the content he's downloaded.
