    Keep Getting Lag Spikes In All Games


    Okay, so I know that this is my computer's problem, not the games since I keep getting terrible lag spikes in Valorant, Apex, Lost Ark, etc. It depends on the game on how frequent and how bad these lag spikes are. For example, Valorant lag spikes aren't as frequent or as bad compared to the Apex (which essentially renders the game unplayable on my side). I really do believe it's being caused by Windows 11. I also know that it's not my internet since I've tested it multiple times and it seems to be doing great.

    Specs: (I'm not sure what's all relevant)

    • Dell G7 7588 Laptop
    • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.21 GHz
    • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with Max-Q Design
    • Running on Windows 11
    Here's what I've done to try and solve this issue:

    • Uninstall a bunch of games and videos on both my C and D drives
    • Update Audio, USB, and Network Adapter drivers
    • Uninstall and reinstall graphics drivers
    • Reduce polling rate on mouse
    • Fix registry (Game DVR or whatever it is)
    I feel like I've tried everything and I'm honestly not sure what else to do, I just want to relax and play games without lag.

    Welcome to the Xbox Community Forum. Thank you for sharing your concern with us today and we hope that all is well. We understand that you are experiencing performance issues while playing games. Let us look into this together to get you back to gaming.



    First, we recommend that you remove any temporary files that may be slowing down your computer.

    Remove Temporary Files via Settings

    1. Click the Start button from Taskbar and choose Settings. Or you can directly open the Windows Settings app by pressing Win + I.
    2. On the System page, go to Storage, wait for a while and click Temporary files.
    3. You can see the temporary file types on your computer. Just check the box of the files that you want to delete and uncheck the ones that you want to keep, then click Remove files to delete them.

    1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator
    2. Paste and copy the command - del /q/f/s %TEMP%\* to the CMD window and press Enter. The temporary files will be removed from your computer.
    Delete Temporary Files via File Explorer

    1. Press Win + R to get the Run window, type %temp% and click OK to open the Temp folder in File Explorer.
    2. Press Ctrl + A to select all the files in this folder, right-click on them and choose Delete from the context menu to delete them.
    Next, we recommend that you close any background processes that may be running while attempting to play games. There are many apps and services, mainly antivirus/computer optimization apps, that can cause slowdowns such as this. If you see any running via Task Manager while launching a game, close them and see if your performance increases.

    Additionally, some users with this issue found success with clearing their Page File for their computer and re-paging the drive in which their stored their games. Please note that it appears all previous user with this issue cleared their page file/re-paged their drive while on Windows 10. We cannot link to 3rd-party websites in the Forums so you will need to perform your own research on how to perform those steps.

    I haven't had lag hardly at all since release for me but tonight I got kicked from 2 games because of lost connection and had major lag spikes during games. It was weird.
