Right click on the Start Menu icon

> Select Windows PowerShell (admin)

> On the screen that opens, type:

Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

(make sure you don't leave any spaces before or after the command) and press Enter

> Wait for the process to complete

> Restart your PC

> See if the problem persists

Hold Win + I and go to Apps > Apps & Features.

locate Gaming Service and tap the menu button (...).

Advanced Options > Reset.

click Reset and confirm.

Later:

Win + X and select Windows Terminal (Admin).

Enter the command below:

get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

Wait for it to complete, and then type this other command:

start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

When it finishes installing, restart your PC and see if the error remains

Still not working, after reinstall the game when i choose to install it on a device and select my pc i get the error 0x80073CF9 when the game try to install.

Thanks for your efforts here but everyone is suggesting things I've already tried. I have tried manually setting DNS and this doesn't help.

This is a pretty recent phenomenon for me and only seems to happen when trying to download updates for games downloaded from Game Pass. As I stated before I can download apps, update apps but cannot update any games which were downloaded from Game Pass
(And before anyone asks, YES my subscription is paid and active.

Also, this error code 0x87e00005, is the only error code that it throws....

Getting pretty annoyed that this keeps happening to me. Every time there is an update available for my Game Pass games this error code keeps happening. I really need proper tech support for this, not xbox ambassadors trying their best to help.

Is there any proper Microsoft tech support I can contact directly for help with this error? I am, in effect, paying for a service which isn't working for me for whatever reason! Surely Microsoft have some obligation to try and get this fixed? I cannot
be the only person still having this issue!
