    Your post confuses me a little... It's still F2P... But it's always required Xbox Live Gold to play...

    If you’re referring to Halo infinite and other free to play games.
    Yes, that’s possible because live gold is not required for F2P games.
    Besides that Live Gold is a requirement

    I've heard rumours that they might actually remove the gold requirement to play F2P games just like every other console/platform did.

    Not all Insiders have access to not requiring gold for f2p games at the moment.Only Alpha/Alpha skip ahead & Beta rings are testing it.If you are not in any of those rings then you will still need a gold sub at the moment.

    48-hour codes aren't full subscriptions and some games may require a full Gold subscription. Generally F2P games such as Fortnite require a full Xbox Live Gold subscription on order to play.
