    Javaw.Exe

I am trying to play minecraft with my little cousin. His computer however, no matter how many times we tried uninstalling and reinstalling minecraft he is unable to join any worlds with multiplayer. When looking up what to do it says that I need to enable javaw.exe in the windows defender firewall, but I don't see the file in the list when I open that up. I tried installing java onto the computer itself as well but still, no success. Any suggestions? We even tried disabling firewall while we played and that still doesn't work.

    :)

    Javaw.Exe

    Hello xdmesaays,

Welcome to Xbox Community Forum. Thank you for sharing your concern with us today and we hope that all is well.

We understand that you are trying to launch Minecraft in your cousin's computer. Let us check on this together so you and your cousin can get back to gaming.

We have read the description and we noticed that you have three concern: unable to join any worlds with multiplayer, install Minecraft, and enable javaw.exe in the windows defender firewall. Let us begin with the first one - unable to join any worlds with multiplayer. Based on this support article (How to Play Minecraft Multiplayer – Home), you will need to make sure that the account privacy of your cousin has enabled multiplayer and this should be done with the help of an adult/parent/guardian. They should be on same Microsoft Family and that organizer (adult/parent/guardian) will enable the privacy settings for your cousin.

Second, what we can suggest you is to uninstall other Minecraft versions in your cousin's PC and use the Minecraft Launcher that can be installed through Microsoft Store (Minecraft Launcher - Microsoft Store Apps) or Minecraft Website (Download Minecraft & Server Software | Minecraft).

Lastly, enable javaw.exe in the Windows Defender Firewall this might mean that you will need to download and install this file from Java website. You might have not found the javaw.exe because it was deleted or removed in your system then download it first then try to install or add it on Windows Defender Firewall.

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

Not able to play Minecraft with other players on LAN

Hi there Death welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan and been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. If Minecraft is not allowed in Firewall, the LAN not working issue can happen. You can check the Firewall settings and ensure the Minecraft executable file “javaw.exe” is allowed in Firewall.

First, navigate to Control Panel -> Windows Defender Firewall -> Allow an app for feature through Windows Defender Firewall.

Then see if the “javaw.exe” is checked. If it’s not checked, click the Change settings button then check the box next to “javaw.exe”. If you see more than one “javaw.exe” entries, check all of them. Also ensure the Private box and the Public box are checked.

    Why Javaw.exe in windows-64x folder

Greetings, and welcome to the Xbox Community! Connect with players from around the world, get help when you need it, and share your gaming journey.

About your question, the legit javaw.exe file, which is used by Java apps like Minecraft, is usually located in one of these folders:

    - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.x.x_xx\bin\javaw.exe (for 64-bit Java)

    - C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.x.x_xx\bin\javaw.exe (for 32-bit Java)

Sometimes, Minecraft uses its own built-in Java runtime, which is often found here:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft Launcher\runtime\jre-legacy\windows-x64\bin\javaw.exe

So I believe that's the one you are looking at, if that's the case it's pretty much normal.
