Japan is an unsupported country for Xbox Cloud?

Restarted the computer and seems now it's working well.

No longer do I get the message "You are in an unsupported country".

Also, I realized at the time of resetting the currency in the Xbox software was GBP instead of JPY. So digged into the region settings and figured out that somehow my computer region was set to UK.

Seems this sort of issue happens when your PC is not correctly and accurately set and you don't follow the "restart the PC after installing a major software" rule of thumb...

All seems to be sorted. I appreciate all of your attention and willingness to have a supportive mentality.

Yes, Japan is a supported country for Xbox Cloud Gaming. The feature is not available on Smart TVs, but you should be able to access the feature on PC.

However, I find it appropriate to ask some questions:

— Does your PC region is set to Japan?
You can double-check this by opening your PC Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region.

— Does the feature work if you connect your PC to a different Wi-Fi network, like a mobile hotspot, does the feature work?

— Did you try using the feature either on the Xbox PC app, or via web browser by accessing to xbox.com/play ?

— What other potential solutions have you tried to solve this?

Japan is definitely supported. I used it from my hotel in Shinjuku a few months ago.

you describe what happens differently when you use your phone? Are you using your phone on Wi-Fi or on the cellular network? Please try it on the same network as your PC and see what happens

My PC's language setting is English and the XBOX software is opening in English too.

My time zone and region are set to Japan.

I haven't tried the browser method and different wifi networks yet. Will keep you updated on how it goes. But definitely, it's not a smooth start from Microsoft if I have to try different workarounds to make the service work...

At the moment, I didn't see similar reports from other players regarding the issue you mentioned.
