    I've bought a new 2tb external hard drive and no matter what i do it wont format for games...


    I've just bought a vendorco productcode scsi disk device(on amazon shows up as External Hard Drive 2TB Portable Hard Drive Portable External Hard Drive External HDD High Speed USB 3.1) with 2tb of storage and no matter what i try i cant format it for games and apps. This is also on an xbox series s. Whenever i try to format it or add a new partition then plug it back into my xbox, it still doesnt come up with the option to keep it as a media device or format it for games and apps. I have tried everything that i can find and nothing seems to work.

    Try formatting it first on a PC. It might be formatted for Fat32, exFAT or something else. Format it to NTFS, then reconnect it to Xbox, and see if it will format it then for your games.

    I don't know what file format Xbox One uses with external hard drives but when you first connect a drive the console should offer to format the drive for games (If it meets the specs), With my Xbox One I have both a 2TB and 4TB external hard drives connected
    and working without any issues for playing games.

    as per the other comments about the use of the external hard drive for the 360 I am in the update preview program which allows additional External hard drives to be used.I purchased the same Seagate 2tb external hard drive as per my xboxone but when I apply
    the format on the xbox360 as per the instructions it replies with unable to format. Would like to know what external hard drives are compatible? I no the hard drive works as tried it on the xboxone after it would not format for the 360

    Yes but only if the external hard drive is formatted to FAT32.

    If it is formatted to NTFS then it wont work

    So I double checked the format and it is NTFS. And yes it is a seagate 2tb external xbox one hard drive, 3.0usb. So I am not sure why it will not let me use it for games. When the hard drive is a game drive.
