Anytime you create a Microsoft account and sign into an Xbox game like Minecraft. As the support agent said it will assign a random gamer tag. You were right to come here and ask as you were not sure what the name was. We are glad you now know. As this has

I'm curious, but was the device purchased used?

I'm wondering if they purchased the console, added their information and then it defaulted to them when you tried to purchase the game.

Since it sounds like you completed the transaction; when you made the purchase did you have to type in your credit card information? If so, I would definitely contact

Xbox Support today and alert them to this issue and monitor that cards activity to ensure no other purchases are made through your card.

Ok so its looking like i am a bit thick. I live chatted microsft and he says they automatically gave me that user name when i registered. They didnt tell me this when i registered. I said i havnt got xbox and haven't created profile even though it says
its linked to one and he said to just change settings. What i downloaded was free so no personal details and i had the email to say you had replied to my post so i think it really is a case of my stupidity. But they should tell people theyre giving them a
user name and why connect me to an Xbox profile? Anyway thanks for replies, doesnt look like im accessing a strangers account
