It's Official... Call of Duty: WWII Is GAME OF THE YEAR 2017! Or Is It?

So... now that the year is pretty much over... what is your pick for GOTY in 2017?

Personally I haven't found the holiday season this year very exciting so it's hard for me to pick one game that stood out.

With that said, there haven't been too many games that I haven't bought. None of them have really hit me with that "WOW" feeling, if that makes any sense.

So... what's your pick? I wanna know.

Since this website has seen better days (ie, the ghosts of Christmas past), I normally wouldn't bother plugging in my keyboard to respond. But when I saw the last poster was Goth, well, I naturally assumed there'd be something sarcastic to read Color
me surprised that it's a semi-serious topic, so I guess I'll leave [my] sarcasm at the door... oh wait, the reason I'm replying is because Official Xbox Magazine has just published *their* GOTY list, and I can't help but stifle a guffaw :-D

It's been slim pickings on my beloved 'Box, so let's see what the magazine considers to be 'must play' material...

Leaving aside the fact that at least SEVEN of these titles can be played on competing platforms, and all you're really looking at is *three* Xbox-exclusive games (although arguably these are shared with UWP) - Halo Wars 2, Forza 7 and Cuphead. Ain't no way
I'd drop any of those into *my* Top 10 basket... so, what is my personal GOTY? I'd like to say it was Horizon Zero Dawn (on the competing platform), but as I look back and truly evaluate the sweep of the year, then it's gotta be one of the most derided or
divisive games released (in years). You could prolly pick it up for a song right now, but I bought the shiny new Collector's Edition at launch, and it still sparkles in my memory.

For me, nothing quite compares to... MASS EFFECT ANDROMEDA <3

So yeah, with the news that my most wanted *new* release for 2018 has slipped by another month (ie, Far Cry 5 pushed back to March 27), I'm even considering buying the [PS4] version of Andromeda... at this stage, it may be for purely nostalgic reasons (as
fan backlash has pretty much nixed the franchise for now), but at least I'll have a bunch of trophies to aim for, a "new" look (there was an additional character model added after the fact), and all of that DEAD SPACE (between my ears lol). And nope, my vote
has *not* been swayed by #sarcasm.

This year has been disappointing for games,especially on xbox.

From the ones I've bought there's Mass Effect Andromeda which was pants,Ghost Recon which looked lovely but got boring & repetitive very fast,AC Origins,looks lovely but gets boring & repetitive very fast,Forza 7-worst Forza in the series & just awful.

Won a copy of Cuphead but hate those type of games.

Enjoying City Skylines & Battlefront 2 but my game of the year would be F1 2017.

This year has definitely been the year to own a PS4 methinks.

 

For me I would have given it to Sniper elite 4.

 

For me it was Mass Effect Andromeda. I had a great time with it. I put in well over 100 hours.
