It Takes Two (and I guess other EA Play games?) not being recognised by Xbox app on PC

Hello all,

I'm having a problem playing It Takes Two with a friend over Xbox Live. I am on PC whereas they are on console, and we are both using Game Pass and the included EA Play subscription to play the game. I was able to download and launch it just fine, and the game works locally.

The problem is with trying to join or accept an invite from my friend playing on Xbox. Xbox Live doesn't recognise that I have It Takes Two installed and running when I receive invites, and instead suggests I stream the game using Cloud Gaming. I have done this once and it did work, but it makes no sense to have to play the game over internet with high latency and bad resolution when I have it installed and running. I can't send invites of my own either because Xbox Live doesn't see the game as running, so the option is greyed out and inaccessable.

The funny part is that when I don't have the game running and I try and accept the invite, I am presented with two choices: PLAY HERE / STREAM. If I choose play here it asks me to select an app, and the only option it gives me is.... Halo Infinite. I don't think that one is going to work Microsoft but thanks for trying!

Has anyone else encountered this issue, and if so what is the fix? I just want to play the game with my friend like any other Xbox game, but it seems to be a failure in communication between Xbox Live and EA for this issue.

Thanks for the reply - what a shame that the game doesn't support crossplatform, I thought it was a feature with any game included in Game Pass. Appreciate the help, take care!

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

Just a friendly reminder though that It Takes Two does not support cross-platform. You both need to be on Xbox or PC if you want to play together.

Like I said though, It Takes Two won't install through the EA app because it's an EA play Pro game - that also means that any troubleshooting in the EA app isn't going to help (I did try it anyway. Didn't work).

The issue is, I believe, at the XGP end.

Nope you misunderstand how eaplay works

Ea pro is exclusive to ea play direct subscribers

And it takes 2 isn't in yet

You forget that releases don't start at 12am those are physical copy releases

Digital releases come at 11am est unless you are jn eu which case it's GMT and a full day early

That's just not true. It Takes Two is now on Xbox Game Pass. Whether it's EA Play or EA Play Pro doesn't matter. It's a Game Pass game so should work on Game Pass, even if on EA's own service it's 'Pro'
