It says "Impossible to connect to DHCP server" What should i do? (Xbox One S)

It says "cant connect to your DHCP server" I've tried what the steps said to do but nothing happened.

The address of 169.xxx.xxx is an APIPA address which means your Xbox is not finding the DHCP server.

"XBox(s) do not attempt to obtain a dynamic IP address until I test the XBox Live connection, until I test they attempt to use a sell assigend 169.xxx.xxx.1-which is way out of my subnet of 172.16.0/24-with no subnet mask, gateway, or DNS."

What is your IP address range? When you test Xbox live connection dose it connect? If so dose it appear in the DHCP on the Windows Server?

Xbox now using wired connection and now message says cannot connect to your dhcp server ??????

P.S it might be worth noting whenever I do the network test it says it cannot connect to my DHCP server. Hopefully you can tell me what this means.

Well, if your local network has the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and the Xbox "pulls" IP information from the DHCP server (on the 255.255.255.0 subnet) with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0, that would be impossible to do. How is this? Well, a client (e.g your
Xbox One) who, as of yet, has no IP address, needs to send a broadcast with destination IP set to 255.255.255.255 (all subnet broadcast address) on UDP port 68 and with its own IP address as the source which is all set to zeros. Now, the all subnet broadcast
address (255.255.255.255) can't be forwarded between subnets. This is what a router is used for, to forward traffic between subnetes. So this implies that the DHCP server must be in the same broadcast domain as the client, or in your case, your Xbox One.

In larger networks you would relay your DHCP server, but that's another topic.
