i understand but i just got a nice name for xbox gamertag i actually only need 13 characters

Unless you have an account that is old and hasn't changed their name you can't have anymore then 11 as the last 4 are reserved for your hashtag whenever you use it or not

You wouldn't be able to use that as a gamertag anymore because it exceeds the new 12 character limit for gamertags.

How can that be true, if other gamers with gamertags that exceed the character amount are still allowed to keep their then the system must allow for it? I'm not asking for a new gamertag, just my old one.
