    Issues with Xbox Seagate Hard Drive


    First time posting, so let's see how this goes!

    OK, so for the past 3 or 4 years, I've had a Xbox Branded Seagate 2Tb External Hard Drive that I'd been using for my Xbox One and now Xbox One X with no issues to speak of. However yesterday, I was having issues trying to start the campaign of Gears 5 (which
    is stored on this hard drive), and these issues morphed into being unable to even load the main menu, instead being stuck in an infinite loading screen.

    While trying to get the game to work, I noticed an occasional crumpling or crunching sound coming from inside my hard drive, and shortly thereafter, the hard drive started disconnecting and reconnecting to my Xbox every several minutes. What exactly is going
    on? Is old age catching up with the hard drive? Will it need to be repaired/replaced? If so, is there a way for me to retrieve the data on the drive without having to redownload over a Terabyte of data? Any help and/or clarification would be much appreciated.

    Seagate hard drives are known to have issues on the 360.

    Currently there is not a list of specific hard drives that are compatible with the 360, but it seems as though Seagate hard drives are known to have issues.

    Did you try changing the cable that plugs the hard drive into the console? I haven't heard of this issue so I'm not sure what's up.

    I went to get it fixed and found out that the needle inside the hardrive that records the data snapped off. So these hard drives are very brittle.

    What brand of hard drive is it? Some drives do not play well with the Xbox console and can have frequent issues.

    Seagate and PNY drives are good examples of this.
