Issues with the xbox app in party chat, static/ quiet mic

Recently something must have changed because now when i enter xbox parties on the windows 10 xbox app, my friends will all tell me that i sound quiet, and there is frequently some awful static coming frim my mic as well. I know for a fact that this is
exclusive to xbox. The app is awful and needs some serious attention. When i tried to look up solutions, all i could find was many multiple year old questions with either no answer or some solution about changing the hz of your mic. i tried the hz thing with
no success. Im getting kind of sick of how terrible xbox support is, and im on the verge of giving up trying to talk to my xbox friends.

seems like, as the party chat recognize your mic, check if you have the same issues on mobile app or in a party directly on the Xbox

The app is garbage, it disallows me from using my mic to speak in parties for literally no reason, it works perfectly on every other communication application, but on the Xbox App it just blasts static down the mic. Broken ass app please fix.

hey how did you use your mic in xbox app party chat in the first place? i launched "start a party (beta)" and it shows my mic, but i can't talk or hear anyone in the party chat. and my mic is the default recording device

I'm pretty sure that the Xbox Console Companion app is now outdated. You should probably use the new Xbox app.

Is your issue related to using your mic in the actual app or your mic using Game Bar?

Game Bar party chat is much better than the app's built-in party chat and will most definitely pick up your mic.

(You can activate Game Bar by pressing Win + G)

You can also change your default mic in the Settings in the Sound tab.

This same issue has been ongoing for months. My son can hear his friends but his mic doesnt work.

The “fix” where you turn off the mic and push to talk in fortnite settings would occasionaly work bit now doesnt.

all other games and apps work with the mic.

The problem persists on another xbox signed in with his profile, using a different headset, so this is not a hardware issue.

other profiles on his xbox have no issues with sound/mic

this is an issue effecting certian profiles accross fortnite only party chat, xbox party chat works fine, which cant be used for crossplatform party play.
