    Issues with storage devices saying it keeps being disconnected


    So I don't know if anything can be helped or done about it through this thread, but I've been having issues with my external hard drives. No they're not the enhanced hard drive or whatever that I can play a series x and s game is on. It's just meant to store my extra backwards compatible games and apps. I had one storage device that my son kept taken out of the back of the Xbox multiple times. That one started giving me issues saying that it kept disconnecting reconnecting, and then out of nowhere all my games and stuff on there got corrupt. So I had another one that was a backup that I plugged in and after about a week or so it's starting to do the same thing. I am trying to see if anyone has an idea as to what the issue is, because I tried both USB ports in the back of the Xbox and it's starting to say on both of them for some reason. So any suggestions are help would be amazing

    How about an acknowledgment that this is an issue, and how about we get a patch already! There are THOUSANDS of ppl dealing with this, let’s get a fix OTHER than a hard reset!

    Hi there,

    as far as I know you can change them and it's not limited to 3, just make sure that nothing is currently being saved, installed or updated on them when disconnecting an external storage device. I usually make sure the console is powered off, before disconnecting a storage device.

    device manager, then view and hidden devices, they sit under the storage devices section. i kept getting yellow alerts for drive disconnected in event viewer and found that it was caused by these xvd image drives being disconnected uncleanly by windows,
    most of the gamepass games that are ports from the console create these.
