Issues with Octopath Traveler save data

I had a sync issue with Octopath Traveler, and decided to sync to my local save files since I believed it would lose only a few hours of progress. I load up the game, and the "Continue" is grayed out and I've lost >40 hours of progress. I attempted to remove the local save and resync the account, restarting the game & console but the issue remains. My save data is still substantial (~50 MB) so my saves should still be stored within the cloud and not completely reset. Any suggestions on what to do next?

Please verify cloud save settings. Make sure cloud saves are enabled on your Xbox. Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Storage" and ensure that "Cloud Saved Games" is turned on.

And then check for game updates. Octopath Traveler should have the updated latest version because bugs in older versions can cause save data issues.

If the issue persist after performing the troubleshooting steps, kindly uninstall and then reinstall Octopath Traveler. This can resolve sync issues.

I was looking for the save file cause i will soon change the account im using with the gamepass and would like to continue were i left the game. should i just copy paste the save file ?

If you're not able to access to the saved file there, that means the game use cloud save to store you progress, and cloud saves are encrypted and can't be downloaded or used outside the own game/system progress management

PS: If you're trying to use this saved file to play the Steam version or any other version of the game different to the Game Pass / Microsoft Store version, probably you're not going to be able to use the file.

Yes, or you can save the folder that contains the files (in case there is more than one file) inside it ("wgs") and then paste it once you use a different account
