    Issue with Xbox Support and Elite Series 2 Controller Warranty


    I purchased an Elite Series 2 controller on December 2, 2021. I have since experienced extreme issues with stick drift. Due to the class action lawsuit, I should have a 1 year warranty on the controller to get a replacement, however I am unable to access my warranty due to an error when registering my device online.

    I have contacted Xbox Support via phone over 5 times now and a handful of emails as well. I am getting frustrated because they have had me send 'proof of purchase' 3 times now and yet I have received no updates, call backs, or emails back regarding this issue. When I call they say they are going to work to reinstate my warranty for a replacement but have to escalate my proof of purchase to an 'off-shore' team. I have sat on hold for over 2 hours and every single time I am told by the agent that they have not received a reply from the team and that they will email or call me within 12 - 24 hours. So far this has been ongoing for over 2 months and I still have not received any form of communication from xbox.

    Today I called once more and sat on the line with an agent for 3 hours waiting for a response from the escalation team. Finally the agent said the same "we'll call you back or email you once we hear back, but the team hasn't responded yet" and then he hung up on me. I think this is ridiculous as it's a copy of my receipt that clearly shows my purchase and that my xbox controller should be in warranty. Unfortunately I keep calling back and getting the same response. At this point I probably have several open tickets but zero resolution. I am at a loss of what to do now.

    Is there a corporate complaint number I can call? What can I do for next steps?

    I would appreciate if a representative can get this resolved for me. I do not understand why this "escalation team" is never responsive to the agents and why the agents never give me a follow up or more information. At this point I may look into legal action as I have all of my calls and communication (lack thereof) documented. It seems ridiculous for a $150 controller, but I feel I have no other options. You'd think a class action lawsuit would prioritize the customer getting these controllers replaced but I have spent hours on calls with support, sent multiple emails with no response, and I'm extremely frustrated with the lack of professionalism from xbox's support team. I just sent a tweet to see if I can get any assistance there, but I am coming here as a last ditch effort before looking into legal action.

    They recently extended the warranty for elite 2 to one year. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/controller/elite-controller-series-2-warranty . maybe this will help

    I bought Xbox Wireless Elite Series 2 Controller, Here in EU (Greece) all controllers have 1 year warranty and the Series X/S consoles 2 years.

    There have been many issues with the Original Xbox Elite Controller Series 2. Peeling grips, sticky "A" button, and faulty bumper buttons were among the common issues at launch. Microsoft appears to have fixed the issues with the Series 2.

    If your controller is under warranty, then repairs are free. If your controller is out of warranty, then you'll be charged a repair fee.
