Issue with Xbox PC app no audio when starting game with Hdmi arc to Tv

I'm experiencing an issue with the Xbox app on my Asus Rog strix g16 laptop. When I go to play, let's say Skyrim on the app, I can hear the audio just fine at the games start up and when I click on the game to get it to into full screen and start the game I loose audio. Before, I had this issue and I had to restart the game and it would work just fine, now it won't even do that.

I have my Samsung Q90C hooked up to my laptop's HDMI, sound works just fine for everything else, just when I want to play a game and the game goes into full screen mode.

Any help appreciated, thanks

One S connected to soundbar for atmos, screen flashes

Found this:

1. Update firmwares for TV, XB1S & Sound bar.
2. XB1S HDMI OUT (to TV) goes to Sound bar HDMI IN. (DOES NOT GO TO TV)
3. Sound bar HDMI ARC OUT goes to TV HDMI ARC.
4. TV AUDIO set to PCM. TV VIDEO set to ARC.
5. Sound bar audio set to HDMI IN. (NOT HDMI ARC)
6. XB1S Video set to 4K UHD.
7. XB1S Audio set to ATMOS.
*Most importantly, XB1S HDMI OUT (to TV) DOES NOT GO TO TV, BUT GOES TO Sound bar IN! XB1S HDMI IN Should NOT BE USED!

Surround Sound setup correctly?
Dolby Digital is only available with HDMI v1.4 Interfaces with an Audio Return line..
The comments in the manual about Audio Return Channel (ARC) only apply to TV (page
22-23
). This is used in the case where the TV is the audio source. When there's a terrestrial or satellite feed connected directly to the TV, the TV needs a way to send audio out to the receiver. ARC is that path with HDMI. For TVs that don't support ARC,
one can use an optical cable. As you notice, the TV is connected to the HDMI OUT of the receiver. ARC's being used over HDMI OUT, not HDMI IN, on the receiver.

This doesn't apply to the 360.
Page 24 details
connection of a component with HDMI OUT (like a PlayStation 3). There's no need to use an optical cable in that case.

How do i connect my xbox one s to my tv to still get 4k picture but at the same time connect it to my soundbar to get dolby atmos sound

It seems that your TV supports Audio Return Channel (ARC). However, on the TV's specification page I don't see if it supports Dolby Atmos through ARC.

If your TV is capable to send Dolby Atmos via ARC, you'd connect your Xbox to a 4K capable HDMI port OTHER than the HDMI ARC port on your TV.

You will then get 4K resolution on the TV screen, and the TV would "forward" audio via the Audio Return Channel to the sound bar. If supported, this will then be Dolby Atmos.

It seems that the Soundbar doesn't support 4K pass through. So either you would need a new TV that supports Dolby Atmos via ARC, or a new soundbar or AV receiver that supports 4K video.

xbox one's tv abilities?

ARC is Audio Return Channel. It allows a TV's audio to be sent back to the attached receiver via the HDMI Out of the receiver instead of having to run a separate audio line from the TV to the receiver. It's intended for use when using a TV's internal tuner
via an attached antenna or cable source.

HDMI CEC is what allows your TV's remote to control other components without actually programming the remote with the code for the other devices.

HDMI CEC pre-dates ARC by several revisions. Unfortunately, few things take advantage of it.
