Issue with Motorola VIP2262 and live TV on XB1.

Ever since the April 2014 update to the XB1 I have been experiencing issues with live TV.

Provider: Bell FIBE (Ontario, Canada)

Box: Motorola VIP2262

TV: Sony 55HX750

Tuner: Sony HT-SF470

Basically every time I turn on my XB1 the TV app only displays a black screen. I can fix this by unplugging the cable box and plugging it back it and resetting the XB1.

My theory on the issue is that this is tied to the VIP2262's "sleep state" that it goes into after long periods of inactivity. The green power light on the VIP is normally not lit up until you turn on your TV once you turn your TV on it kind of wakes up the
VIP, green light comes on and all is good. The same functionality was happening with the unit fed into the XB1 until the latest update.

Now when I turn on the XB1 and launch the TV app it no longer "wakes up" the cable box. Manually waking up the cable box with the remote (pressing any button) doesn't solve the problem. The power light comes on but only a black screen is displayed on the XB1.

So far power cycling both units has been the only solution and is extremely annoying.

There are no settings that I can find to prevent the VIP from going into this sleep mode. I've set the screen res to 1080i down from 1080p to try and correct it but that had no effect, the issue still persists.

See my thread. Same issues. Seems like the combination of the PVR going to sleep mode and turning off the xbox kills the connection between them. You can fix it by unplugging the power from the PVR for 30 seconds or more and doing a hard restart of the XB1
at the same time.

However the next time the cable box goes to sleep and/or you shut down the xbox you'll have to do that fix again to get it back. Basically every time you want to watch tv. It sucks.

Bump still ***. Last night required many resets to get the XB1 to recognize the PVR.

 

bump. new temporary fix is that i never turn off the xbox one, just turn off my TV and receiver. This way the "connection" between the set top box and xbox seems to not be broken.

Obviously this is not a viable long term solution. Do support staff even check here any more?

 

I also have this issue, but with my AT&T Uverse box. If the box goes into screen saving mode the xbox stops accepting any signal if I either suspend the program and play a game, go to netflix, etc and come back or even if I power cycle the whole thing. I
end up having to yell Watch X and hope that the xbox does the proper command, that the channel changes to live tv on the uverse box, and that the xbox reaccepts a new signal from the box. Obviously this only works about 30% of the time.

For a all in one box I am quickly getting annoyed enough to make it solo again and not deal with this dumb decision that made things worse since the last update.

Honestly guys this worked perfectly before!

 

Oddly mine has been working ok the last 24 hours or so. Will keep this thread updated. Try giving yours another shot?

 

Must have been a fluke because its doing the same thing again. Hopefully the May update undoes whatever they did. [Mod Removed] ridiculous how bad support has been at acknowledging this nonsense.

I had similar issue but seem to be gone, however since today's upgrade what stoped working was the IR control of the box completely.... the box is fine as the normal remote works, the issue is with xbox... my guess is that maybe its getting the wrong ir
code.... but I couldn't find any info on the code on the web

 

The answer is to replace the hdmi cable that came with the vip2262 and get an xbox branded hdmi cbl. That worked for me.
