Issue with linked gamers and Epic 2FA

My son plays on a seperate gamer tag (which has it's own email address) but he is connected as 'family' to my account with a different email address. He wants to get Fortnite 2fa but can't seem to with
this set up. When i log into xbox with his own email address another gamer tag is connected. How can i seperate his current gamer tag from our account so that he can get 2fa and not lose his gamertag?

You have to log in to your sons epic account on the epic website and then go to your epic games account and set up 2FA on there

It seems that your son is having trouble linking his Epic Games 2FA with Fortnite on Xbox. Let us help you get to the bottom of this.

Here are some steps that may help resolve the issue:

1. Make sure that your son has linked his Xbox Live account with his Epic Games account. He can do this by logging in to his Epic Games account on a web browser and going to the "Connected Accounts" section.

2. Check that your son has enabled 2FA on his Epic Games account. He can do this by going to the "Password & Security" section of his account settings.

3. Have your son try logging out of Fortnite on Xbox and then logging back in. This may prompt the game to recognize that he has enabled 2FA.

4. If none of the above steps work, try contacting Epic Games customer support for further assistance.

The short version is that you have to log into you Epic account, go to settings for password and security and choose to enable 2FA.

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. Forgotten Epic Account emails would need to be handled by Epic Games Customer service. We cannot help with recovering an Epic Games account on the Xbox forums. However, you can sign in to your Epic Account
online to enable 2FA with your Xbox Account if you have them linked. Without your Xbox account being linked, you would not be able to log in to enable 2FA since you do not know the email you used to sign up for an Epic Games account.

To log in to your Epic Account online using your Xbox profile, go to the following link https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/en-US. Then click on Sign in at the top right
corner of the page and select Yes when asked if you already play Fortnite. It will then ask you to choose your platform, select Xbox and type in your Microsoft account credentials associated with your Xbox profile. If already linked, then you should be in
the home page of your Epic games account. If not linked, you will need to allow Epic Games access to your Microsoft account to complete the linking of accounts. Once logged in, you can enable 2FA under the Account settings of your Epic account home page.
