    Issue with Design Lab controller - 3.5mm socket not working


    Hi all,

    I've been trying to raise a ticket for the above issue, but there doesn't seem to be an option for returning the controller to be repaired on the normal repair centre page.

    I was bought a Design Lab controller for Christmas, but since then, the 3.5mm audio jack appears to have failed. I have a second controller that works fine with my headset via the 3.5mm jack (Logitech G933 Artemis) and it's never been an issue with the console
    packaged controller, but the new one isn't working with the headset at all. I've tried all sorts of settings on the console itself, but I get zero audio.

    The problem now is I can't seem to add the controller as a device on the repair page either, as it returns an error message saying it can't be added, so I'm getting stuck on how to sort out the issue. The Microsoft Issues page doesn't help with the specific
    issue either, so I keep going round in circles. The next step seems to be requesting a callback or asking on here.

    So for clarity:

    Headset works fine with another controller/consoles

    Assume Design Lab controller 3.5mm audio socket has malfunctioned - No audio whatsoever, but it did work previously

    Tried blowing air into the socket with no joy in fixing issue

    Tried updating controller (up to date) with no change to issue

    Can anyone offer some advice please? Thanks

    Thanks for the quick response - the issue is that when I enter the serial No. for the controller to register is at a device, I get an error message saying that I need to contact support/ask on the forums:

    We’re sorry. We are unable to process your request online at this time. Please contact Microsoft Support for assistance. (mK2m+5/OBE2Cf56C.22)

    I'm thinking I need to contact an agent then to get it sorted out (or have them call back). Thanks for the info though, good to know that a Design Lab one will be replaced like for like.

    If you've tried troubleshooting your controller and can't fix the issue, you can request a warranty replacement unit at
    Device Support or contact an
    Xbox Support agent for help.

    Note If you request a replacement for an Xbox Design Lab controller under warranty, they will provide an exact replacement of that controller.

    You might also consider trying the adapter. That seems to resolve a lot of issues.

    Yes you right! If it works before, then it is not a compatibility issues. I also heard on some controller "HOT Plugin" does not work. So before you plug in the headset, turn the controller OFF!

    I got different controller and different headsets (packed with XBOX and controller) and there are some combinations working good and some failed.It can not be said with certainty whether the input is really faulty.
    Hi, thanks for the reply. I would agree with you had the audio never worked on the controller, however, it seems strange that it appeared to work for some time before finally ceasing to do so. While it did work, there were no audio issues like crackling/drop
    out etc, so everything seemed absolutely fine. I would have thought that any sound issues owing to hardware differences between different controllers, would be present from day one?
