    Issue updating Fortnite. Error code 0x87e00031


    One day I got an update for Fortnite but once I tried to update it, I got an error message saying "in your queue, cancel the install for %2 and then try reinstalling it. (0x87e00031). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but I get the same message. I've tried to install it on a different account but I get the same message. Is this an issue with my Xbox? As I have never gotten this message on any of my other games and I've been able to update and install other games even after I first received this message with no problems. I've uploaded an image of the error message I get.

    Thank you for the quick reply. I currently have 4 accounts on my xbox. Do I have to remove all of them? Or just my main account.

    I'm sorry you're experiencing these issues.

    Please try the following steps:

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    Select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.

    Remove your account from the console (You need to have your email address handy so that you can log in later).

    2. Press and hold the Power button on the front of your Xbox until the console turns off.

    3. Unplug the power cord from the back of your Xbox.

    4. Wait a minute, and then plug the power cord back in.

    5. Press the Power button on your Xbox to turn it back on.

    6. Log in to your account again.

    Installation Stopped - Fortnite

    Hi, this didn’t work. It said it required an update followed by installation stopped.

    Also when you click on the game then it gives error code 0x87e00031

    Hello Daniel Gill_354.

    This reply did not help at all. The error code as described in original post describes not being able to install games and apps, and nothing to do with launching them.

    This seems to be a common problem for a lot of people since the last xbox system update, god forbid microsoft fixes something that actually needs fixing instead of creating more problems.

    Would love to hear of alternate solutions on how to fix this problem.
