Is Xbox series X/S internal SSD flaw will be solved in the future ?

    Hello Microsoft technicians !

This is my first question at Microsoft forums and to begin, I recently purchased Xbox Series X and I love spending my time playing on it to be frank ! that's why I had to work for almost 4 months and deprive myself from many things in order to earn it, because I live in a nation where earning 500$ can take months of hard work, and I'm fine with that as long as I can get something I really want.

However my biggest concern is that I recently learned that this console has a FATAL FLAW in design, a slight defect in internal SSD can kill the whole system and render the console completely useless, a total brick, with absolutely zero chance of recovery. (at least in my case because sending it to Microsoft store is out of question, since there's no Microsoft branch in my country, Algeria)
Moreover SSDs are known to have limited lifespan and gaming process will speed this up, either way my console is at impending loss no matter how I treat it !

With that in mind, now I can barely touch my console, I am simply deprived from the right to own it, personally I never owned something technological that 's designed like this, none whatsoever, and I wouldn't.

Above all and the most important question, are you Microsoft willing to address this flaw and come up with a solution for your loyal costumers, or continue this inhumane practice toward consumers, which also means I have to let go of my investment and sell this console.

PS: even if there's a possibility to send it to Microsoft for repair, there's no way I'll pay 299$ for SSD replacement ! no thank you !

    :)

Is Xbox series X/S internal SSD flaw will be solved in the future ?

Thank your for you insight !

I know well that any form disk drive has limited lifespan, in fact I never been worried about that, no !

You didn't get the point of my post, in simpler terms; when your console specific SSD dies, the entire console becomes useless, no SSD replacement ability so far. Xbox series X/S is designed this way. To become a brick the moment its internal SSD dies.

This is correct but guess what? Unless SSDs have Petabytes of space, people are going to be constantly uninstalling and reinstalling. You'll need such a massive drive where you never uninstall anything. Until that happens, everyone will be losing their SSDs faster than HDDs.

Edit: i'll give a simple example of minecraft on PC. you need to do periodic backups or you could lose your progress permanently. you can easily use 2-3gb a day that you will eventually keep deleting. This is flat out a bad design.

What makes matters worse is you physically see your space shrinking smaller and smaller over time, so you see it dying.

SSDs are a standard part of all computers today,

All hard drives from the beginning of hard drives have had finite lifespan, it's really nothing to be concerned about. SSDs typically die from right cycles not read cycles, so unless you're constantly installing and uninstalling games in large quantity over time, i really wouldn't worry about it.

So unless you're gonna stop using your phone, and all other forms of computer, I really wouldn't worry about it that much

No one who reads or posts on this forum would be able to give you any kind of answer that you're looking for in an official capacity.

Thank you for your reply !

I'm well aware of how SSDs live and die.

Also SSDs on xbox can also have sudden death from structural shock or manufacturing defect.

However I don't think you're grasping the concept of my post.

In simpler word, when SSD dies on Xbox console, then the console is gone for good ! because motherboard is tied to one and only original SSD that came with it in first place. No SSD replacement is possible, which got me concerned.

That no rumor it is fact, the technician that repairs consoles who neighboring me has received his first Xbox series X with dead SSD, he came into conclusion that the console has literally no further use.

Anything including HDDS have a llimited life span it's an average of 5 plus years depending on use before corruption occurs gradually on physical hdds

Ssds take bit longer as.these are chips NOT wafers or.platers

    That's.not.a flaw.but physics

I have the series x for 2 years already since day 1

Fyi don't listen to. internet rrumors. unless you have basic understanding how.computer compoments work

Pcs.and consoles NOW. come with nvme and pcs have had nvme tech longer then consoles have and therr hasn't been a mass failure in a short period

    Hdds do.have a limited lifespan

You move a pc.and drop it really hard you cause corruption or .even carrying a portable hdd

    Ssd degrade.with every use.

    So do.usbs drives
