is xbox party a different thing to use internet than playing games on the xbox

From what I understand, Xbox and Party use the same internet connection, of course when using Party you are communicating with people and with the Xbox you play, but there should not be a greater internet consumption, so your friend's mother must be confused with regarding the operation and consumption of the Internet.

the thing is if you have the internet and streaming through pc it is so much easier just to use discord for your party than through xbox and also you can have it set up for game sound to play through your streaming software too

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. There are a few things we would like to know in order to have a better understanding of this issue.

When your son is chatting with his friends, is he in an Xbox live party? That would be a private room/party where you can only chat with/hear other members in the party.

Or, is he using in game chat? This means he is not in an Xbox live party, and is able to talk to all players in the game lobby he is playing in.

Since this issue is happening on 2 different mics, have you been able to try out a different controller?
