Should this statement be replied from Microsoft's staff, I then would definitely say "Now we are talking..." But since it is you, then I really should not be that cocky. Instead I must say "Thanks for caring, and listening to the sad stories of an old Xbox
    fan in Hong Kong......"

Okay, now we know the situation in Hong Kong. Xbox One is not selling, not to mention the games. Most game shops here mainly sell PlayStation 4 games, but some shops still manage to sell Xbox One games, though you cannot expect much. Fortunately, the supply
of Xbox games here is still stable, at least it is not impossible to have the games that we want. Problem is: that already creates a picture that Xbox One is not having any new games now, but the truth is, there should be more than 30 new games to be expected
in the near future! People do not know that unless they read the news from E3! How would they know that Xbox One is still having many great games as PlayStation, not to mention that Xbox is enjoying some exclusive games too! If the sales and marketing team
does not show the beautiful vision to the Xbox One owners, how do they know that they are actually holding an unpolished gem???

Speaking of E3, it is a pity that we Hong Kong here cannot enjoy such professional and informative function. So Xbox should really not skip the annual Anime, Comic and Games Festival in Hong Kong. But unfortunately, they did this year, letting PlayStation
dominate the festival, giving a (wrongful) vision to all gamers here that only PlayStation prevails, Xbox is dead. Something that must be done should be done. You cannot simply say that “okay our momentum is lost so let’s not compete with PlayStation anymore”.
That’s throwing the towel! It is the Xbox Sales and Marketing team’s job to keep the gamers updated that Xbox still have great games coming! It is still not too late to have Xbox One!

I am sure that Xbox Hong Kong might explain that “What can we do? We have tried our best already!” Well, not only me but all the real Xbox fans in Hong Kong know that that is totally ****. I bet you may not know, that in the sales and marketing in Hong Kong
(not only Microsoft and Xbox, to be fair), they tends to use “celebrities” for selling products. Last year’s Xbox One promotion was definitely a laughingstock. Xbox Hong Kong hired a so-called “Miss Hong Kong” first-runner-up as the image icon for selling
Xbox. Problem is: that “Miss Hong Kong” is well-known as a PlayStation fanatic, and unfortunately, when promoting for the Xbox games account, she, as all expected, said “PS account” (though she corrected herself immediately) instead. That promotion event was
the most self-humiliating one made by the Xbox Hong Kong itself, whereas that made PlayStation fans very happy. So if you say that Xbox Hong Kong has already done their best and it is not their fault as budget is tight, we beg to differ, and would say the
sales and marketing budget was actually misused or even corrupted by those incompatible staff! What if the budget were actually spent on proper promotion without wasting money for hiring those so-called celebrities and rather provided more discount and benefit
to the gamers? I can assure you that the result should be much better.

I hate to say but Xbox Hong Kong’s Sales and Marketing team do owe us Xbox supporters in Hong Kong an apology. Hong Kong is actually a lovely market, as gamers do not mind buying both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as long as they are affordable. Hong Kong
people love gadgets, so if you cannot sell them Xbox One, you have nobody but only yourself to blame. We are also not asking for Xbox lure those exclusive games in PlayStation 4 come back to Xbox One, as long as there are still great games coming. But sadly,
Xbox Hong Kong has already created an environment that owing a Xbox is hopeless yet embarrassing! Should the vicious cycle continue in this manner, I bet we cannot even see any green boxes games in Hong Kong anymore!

So let’s come back to the question: what steps MS could take in the region to regain their foothold in the console market? Simple and easy: JUST RESUME THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN US XBOX GAMERS AND XBOX! Stop occasionally sending new games information to us through
facebook, but chat with us, and answer the enquiries from customers who have no choice but ask where can they still buy Xbox One’s games by replying their promotion text! Nevertheless, I think this might not be an unique situation and problem in Hong Kong,
joining this forum for one to two weeks makes me understand that actually the whole Xbox team would like to stop the dialogue between us Xbox games and Xbox. But I frankly do not think that the situation in America is better. If Xbox US treasures the communication
with the customers, why the hell do they not handle comments and complaints directly, but make use of volunteer ambassadors to be human shields so they just hide up?

In a nutshell, what Xbox, no matter in US or in Hong Kong, must really restart the connection between them and us Xbox users. Simple and basic, if you don't treasure us, why should we support you? And coming back to the senario in Hong Kong, the sales and
marketing team must bear the liabilities so as to let everyone knows that Xbox is not dead, it still has many great games coming, even though we don't have Yakuza 3, we still have State of Decay 2! (That's just an example.) So you might ask further: then practically
what can they do? Then I will answer: why should I tell? Mind them, it is we Xbox players pay for playing Xbox, and they get paid for that. The liabilities of reclaiming the territories must always be on their side. The duties should not get mixed up. Yet,
IT IS THE SALES AND MARKETING TEAM IN XBOX HONG KONG MISUSED THE RESOURCES CAUSING THE FIASCO IN HONG KONG, NOT WE XBOX SUPPORTERS IN HONG KONG!

And a last sincere advice to Mr Spencer: if he is not feeling like giving up the market in Japan, then please retain the market in Hong Kong first. If Xbox cannot even retain the market in Hong Kong, don't even think about luring the Japanese who has strong
self-cultural protectionism. But if Xbox is giving up the whole Asia as a matter of fact, then just screw it. But mind him: Xbox is not only repeating the history of Sega, but also following the trend of allowing Japanese cars invading US! Don’t ever forget,
that Microsoft Xbox is not only confronting with Sony PlayStation, but also Nintendo Switch, not to mention the tablet games in IOS and Android platforms too!

Microsoft have tried, but if the majority of people prefer Sony or Nintendo then why keep trying? It’s a waste of money and resources.

When I live in S. Korea in 2005 and 2006 there was a video game store that I used to go to, to buy PSP games. They had a huge section just for Xbox 360 and no one paid any interest to it. The Asian markets are very closed minded when it comes to things like
    this.

I’d blame the Asian markets before I blame Microsoft. They’ve tried, they’ve failed, they’ve moved their focus elsewhere.

I beg to differ. I cannot comment the S. Korea situation as I have never been there, but in Hong Kong it is not the case.

We Xbox supporters still remember the "good old days" of Xbox 360, as it almost out-beat PlayStation 3 in Hong Kong, and we now also mourn that Xbox One could not succeed the success of Xbox 360. Xbox 360's first and second hand games are still trading well
now. I hate to say again, it is not the problem of Microsoft and Xbox One. It is the sales and marketing problem, especially Xbox Hong Kong's.

Interesting enough, if Xbox is just doing bad in Asia and doing great in US, how come there are so many comments from America or Europe that hoping Xbox could do better so that it won't be outperformed by PlayStation? So many videos in YouTube say so.

Well if the Hong Kong market is different than I apologize as when I was referring to the Asian markets I meant Korea and Japan.

No you don't! Actually I must thank you for sharing the situation that you know in Korea, letting me confirm the situation Xbox doing in Asia.

Even though I need any apology, it must be from Microsoft and their sales and marketing team, especially the one in Hong Kong. Shame on you Microsoft HK and Xbox HK.

Is Xbox Giving Up Us Hong Kong Market???

    Hi there,

I must agree, that there is not much of a spotlight in the Asian market, and feel genuinely sad that you folks can't enjoy Xbox as much as we can in the West. I do hope in future, the company listens, but MS are known to cut their losses with no second thought.

    L

Yes, so all gamers in Asian are now actively and passively being driven to Sony PlayStation. I can see that Microsoft doesn't even bother to swing a fist to fight back, just repeating the failing history of Sega and Microsoft itself. Pathetic.

It is sad to read this comment, but business is business. :/ Stay vocal, and know that you will always have my support!

    Best,

    L
Thanks L for your support. Of course I know business is business, that's why I don't want to see Microsoft repeats the history of Sega and Blackberry, always hoping that the new models of products will drive customers back eventually, but without realizing
that it is actually the company's attitude that drives customers away. They still don't get it: if they lose the heart of supporters, they lose support forever, very difficult to call them back. I can see that they are totally following the failing path of
Sega, and I really hate to say that: the coming new gaming console will make them fail like that day Dreamcast did to Sega.
