is Ubisoft really pulling a Zenimax with purchased games?

so as some perspective for those who dont know what "pulling a Zenimax" is, its where a game company makes a game and gives it DLC that can be purchased outside the game, then sees that Xbox allows license transferring and they say "screw your and your friends give us money or [mod removed]" and then make all DLC (in game and out of game) completely non-functional with license transferring, (which im pretty sure violates a trade law or two, but its Zenimax... they seem to get away with a lot)

well i bought the ultimate edition of Far cry 6 so that me and my friend (who gave me money to help pay for the game) could play together, just to find out despite the game allowing him to download all the DLC, he gets none of it, absolutely nothing, and Ubisoft gave no warning about it not being transferable, at first the game didn't even load or run, after a day it got fixed but no DLCs at all, now we are on day 12 and ive complete the game, we couldn't play multiplayer because its so wildly unstable and he cant use the DLC he chipped in money for (the Vice Pack)

now normally I wouldn't care, but after talking with Ubisoft support (who are complete knob gobblers, and are super dismissive and rude to people on support tickets) im starting to question if he will even get the main DLCs or even the free DLCs when they drop, because it says he cant purchase any of the stuff I have bought, and he cant use it either

they dont seem to understand that if I, a person who cant afford the game, share with another person, they who cant ever afford the game, its not hurting them at all, they dont lose any money, and if the game isnt utter trash, they wont get a bad review

what am I supposed to do if im 90% sure that a game or the company running it is breaking either Xbox rules/ terms of service, or straight up breaking trade laws?

UPDATE: ya know what, screw Ubisoft, never buying anything of theirs again since they want to be super predatorial and find the dumbest loop holes to screw over their consumers and y'all want to support that, its 2021 and everyone doesn't understand just because somethings digital doesn't mean its not a product, but who cares, since the consumer is just something to bleed dry of all its money and throw under the bus when its no longer giving you money, good thing we will all be under water in under 70 years, just hope im dead before then

the developer can stop the act of sharing games whenever they want, they can have their games opt out of it. originally up until not long ago you were not allowed to share games, Microsoft quietly allowed it, but yes there are some publishers and devs that don't allow it and it is perfectly legal.

the argument you are using in regards to if i can never afford it I would not have bought it is a classic that all content pirates used to use as an excuse. if you can't afford something then either save for it or get something else or wait for a sale.

nothing in life is free but for some reason a lot expect to be able to use or get something at no cost these days.

When purchasing a game you are not actually getting the game, you are getting a licence to use that game, that licence is for the account purchaser only and their home xbox which is in the home.

And as written in most licences, "these terms are subject to change at any time"

In fact, as our friend mentioned, the only guarantee is that you receive the content with the account that was used to purchase that content. They are not wrong or required by law to deliver content to other accounts.

more clear about it? they never even shared that page or let anyone know about it, thats the part im talk about violating trade laws, your supposed to have all warnings and stipulations upfront when advertising a product, digital or not its against the law to knowingly hide that from the consumer, or put it so far off the beaten path the consumer has to dig for it

What you do and how you share your accounr is on YOU

Ask any court that

You cannot sell anything private nor yours to own

You are LICENSED

NOT TAKING OWNERSHIP

however it if breaks the server rules you can be suspended

Not a trade issue

There is legally only one owner of your account

That's YOU

You may not share your personal details with anyone period that's a pii violation subject to enforcement

Thats like you telling a cop oh I am sharing this car cause I paid for half so I should get to drive around without a license

The judge will throw the book at you

You don't decide how to share access to your account

Nor how to split content you don't own
