Unfortunately, if you've already gone through the steps of trying different Ethernet Cables, directly connecting the Ethernet cable to the Cable/DSL modem and then the other
end into the Xbox 360 and it's still not being detected then it definitely means that there is an issue with the consoles Ethernet port and there's really no fix for it.

Something like this can definitely occur if you've had a power surge of any sort as power can go through the Ethernet cord to the port of the Xbox 360 and short it out.

You would need to send the console in to get repaired if you'd like to make sure of the Ethernet portion of the console otherwise
you can try using wireless either internal if available or using the wireless adapter.
