You have to report the message/user then mute and block them. Don't ever respond. You can also change your privacy settings so you only get messages from friends. Also be wary of joining randoms' voice chat as that is a way people can boot you offline.
Stick to game chat.

Because what the Ambassador said earlier in these replies is verifiably not true. It would show in the chat box “This message was deleted.” if enforcement action was taken against that message. I have never once seen that for any of the profane/racist/homophobic messages I have reported.

I will even occasionally message the person who’s sent me the hate mail I’ve reported and I’ll get a reply from them, proving that they were not suspended for their previous offending messages.

There is a lot of verifiable proof that reports that have been filed are not being reviewed and that Enforcement is doing nothing to enforce Community Standards. This needs to be investigated by higher-ups on the Xbox team.

That being said, I regret to inform you, but once you decide to delete a chat, it is not possible to restore the contents of it after the deletion. This action can't be reversed if the other person didn't delete the chat because you and the other person have a separate copy.

In case you need to view a specific message, you may want to ask this person to send a screenshot of it or copy, paste and send the message you want to have.
