Is there a way to record more than 30 seconds with the Xbox game bar?

Yes, there is. When background recording is turned on, you can record up to 30 minutes. Recordings automatically turn off after 30 minutes.

To manage this simply press the Windows logo key + G, and then select Settings and Capturing.

You can record without the Kinect. If you want to record the last 30 seconds of gameplay I believe you need the Kinect, if you want to record more than 30 second of gameplay you can do it without the Kinect.

Hey! Sorry for the late reply, but "regular recordings" means the Win+Alt+R shortcut that records the screen. I tried to repair Xbox Game Bar but I still can't use the record last 30 seconds feature.

If always recorded 30 mins of game play through my connect which works fine, if I want to record 5 mins of game play with the game DVR it always say error and I cannot record more than 30 seconds, I have been into settings and checked everything I just don't
know what else to do, my Xbox just feels broken

You currently can't record more than 30 seconds at a time.

To record more you need an external capture device like Elgato offer but Microsoft is bringing more options over the coming months.
