Is there a way to play Minecraft Java Edition without registering my device with Microsoft?

Dear all,

When I try to boot up Minecraft I get the "CLiP license device ID does not match the device ID in the bound device license"-error.
I figure this is because I am not logged into the Xbox or the Microsoft Store app & the device I am playing on isn't currently doxxed (registered) with Microsoft.

I do not want to register my devices with Microsoft in order to play a simple game I bought years and years ago, is there any other way to play Minecraft Java Edition without 'outing' my devices?
I'll have a look for alternative launchers, or I guess I'll sail the seven seas to get an unbroken copy of the game I purchased.

you may have bought the game bought in fact you bought a licence to play that game, in that licence they can make changes and now that change is a microsoft account is required to play.

I use a local administrator account on my computer, as I don't want to register my device with Microsoft.
When I use a third party launcher I can login to my Microsoft account without tying it to my computer itself, this is the best solution.
It's unfortunate that there isn't a login option that doesn't require you to sign into the Microsoft Store whilst playing, in my opinion.

You are completely right, Microsoft has the right to require a Microsoft Store log-on when booting Minecraft, quite likely just to verify the license.
I however would've preferred if they didn't tie the login to the Store.

If you don’t want to use the official launcher you can use third party launchers
Microsoft doesn’t “doxx” your devices. But I understand if you don’t want to sign in with your created Microsoft account

also, it says my PC is linked, but when I look at the registered devices, it says there are 0 registered devices. Maybe this is the problem. It is an older dell, but meets all the reqs.

Just to make sure, did you purchase "Minecraft", "Minecraft for Windows 10" or Minecraft Java Edition? Typically when it's looking for a device, it's looking for a console. "Minecraft" is for the console. "Minecraft for Windows 10" or Java Edition are for the PC.

As previously noted. Microsoft owns Minecraft, however Minecraft Java is not a Microsoft or Xbox game. The PC equivalent is “Minecraft Windows 10 edition” the Java version is a separate game not part of Minecraft bedrock, their-for not cross play with other devices.

Xbox owns W10 edition not Java edition
