  1. Is there a way to change a Xbox/Microsoft account from a child to adult without a adult...

I have owned this account for some years now and I am of age to remove this issue. However I do not have an Adult Account to switch me out of it.

I thought that during each birthday I would get informed more of the changes to my account. However I’m just stuck on a child account.

If anyone could help that be amazing, as I would love to be able to catch up with friends and be able to play fully.

Thank you for anyone who answers.

    :)

    Hey Xwarrior,

Did this account graduate naturally from a child account to an adult account or was there a birthday change attempt? You can change the birthdate to the Microsoft account but it will not change the birthdate that was entered originally to the Xbox profile.

In other words, a child account will remain a child account until it graduates naturally to an adult account. No way around it.

Hello! Thanks for the reply. I just got one question and it’s what I saw and I have no idea if it ever changed.

Would the age registered on the account of the child change once it’s of age for an adult? Or is that still a manual change for the adult account?

Hi! My name is Ben a fellow member here in the community, not a Microsoft employee. Hope you are doing well!

With regards to changing a child account to an adult, you will really need an adult account to supervise a child's account. If you don't have an acting adult account or organizer account, you can try setting up one via https://signup.live.com/ just make sure the date of birth is an adult account.

After creating an adult account, use the adult account to sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/family page and invite your account as a child/member on the Microsoft family.

Now once your account is added as a member, you may try these steps below to try and change the date of birth of your main account to see if it will work for you:

    1. Login using the parent account at https://account.microsoft.com/family

    2. Click the elipsis or 3 dots button beside the child account you wanted to remove or manage.

    3. Click on Manage consent

    4. Click on Edit this child's personal info

From there try if you can change the date of birth of the child account to an adult, set it to any year that will be considered as adult. If it allows you to change it, you can then go back to https://acount.microsoft.com/family page to remove it. Normally it will display a message asking if you are sure you wanted to remove all consent given to the child's account, just agree to it to change the DOB.

I hope his helps somehow, feel free to post back if you have other questions and we will try our best to assist.

    Kind regards,

    Ben

You're welcome! About that, it will automatically change once the date of birth reach 21 normally for other countries its 18-19.

But you can also try the steps I provided to manually change it, I cannot guarantee it will work for everyone though but it somehow works for me.

    Unlinking an email/parental email

So, if I understand, you account is an child account and you want to unlink your parent's account from yours? Unfortunately, child account are not allowed to be managed without and adult account attached, you can ask yours parent's (adult account owner)
to contact support and ask for a change of adult account, re-alocating the child account to another MSA adult
