    Is there a way to access xbox 360 files?


    My xbox 360 keeps freezing because the 4gb memory is full so it just freezes. Is there a way to access the xbox 360 files so I can move the files on the memory to a 16 gb usb? If that isn't possible then Is there a way to change the USB (on the 4gb memory because it is plugged into the mother board) to a usb a? Also if anyone can tell me what type of usb the memory uses to plug into the motherboard that would be great.

    The 4GB storage on some of the Xbox 360 Core models isn't plugged into the motherboard, it's soldered into the motherboard, and therefore it cannot be removed.

    Here are some things you can try.

    Before doing anything, try clearing the Xbox 360's temporary cache

    The Xbox 360 supports USB storage devices up to 2TB.
    The thing is the xbox is frozen and when it prompts me to restart (after an hour or so), it doesn't show me the 4gb internal memory and clearing cache on other storage devices doesn't work. My 4gb memory is not soldered on so I was able to take it out. I tried finding out what kind of usb port it is but failed, any knowledge about it would be great.

    There are videos about this on YouTube, but I can not, and will not link them here as self repair console discussions are not allowed on these forums.

    Your other option would be to find a repair shop that can service your old Xbox 360 console and get it working again. Microsoft no longer provides this service for the the Xbox 360.

    Hi there,

    We're sorry to hear about this issue. You should be able to remove the hard drive, use another persons Xbox 360 of the same model to access your account, and upload those save files to the cloud. The cloud is the only current way to access these save files.

    Thanks for the info and sorry for the misunderstanding. Are you on an Xbox One or 360? The Xbox One console stores saves on both the cloud and the console and cannot be placed on a USB stick.

    If you are on a 360 and stored the saves on a USB and transferred that stick to your PC then there is no way to recover the files as the files were changed when the PC tried to read them.

    If you haven't tried to access them on a PC and the files are randomly disappearing from your USB then the stick may be old and losing the files. In this case the best recommendation would be to purchase a new storage device for the 360 console.
