The Achievement leaderboard is there to encourage a healthy competition among gamers. Just think of it as gamescore bragging rights

There seem to be more than 100 players with over 1 million gamerscore. Personally I am nowhere near that, still under 50K.

A gamerscore leaderboard compares how much gamerscore you earn each month compared to people on your friends list. People can just use it for bragging rights.

Are you talking about it being shown here on xbox.com? Sometimes the site takes a little while to update to the proper gamerscore
