No external hard drives will play Series X|S optimised games. You need either the Expansion card from Seagate or from the WD BLack Expansion card that has just recently been released from Western Digital. The 1TB WD expansion card is around $150 according to the US Amazon website.

To get PC gaming specs up to even the lower powered Series S hardware we're talking spending at least $800. So even these expensive expansion cards work out cheaper.
