    I have a wireless controller with an adapter (or could be a dongle) and would like to know if it would work on the Xbox One? Any and all advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance! GAME ON!

    Also, for third-party controllers, it would be best to purchase on a brand that has a logo "Designed for Xbox".     Yes, because all the official xbox one controllers are compatible with all xbox one consoles (original, S, S all digital & X) and even with the future Series X. All the xbox one controllers have the wireless protocol, the newer versions of the controller
    have also the bluetooth but it is not used to communicate with the xbox one consoles.

    Your controller isn't a wired controller. Unlike the Xbox One and Series X|S controllers, the Xbox 360 wireless controllers are always wireless. Hence why the second part (circled) refers to using an Xbox gaming receiver with an Xbox 360 wireless controller.

    Note that the 'Gaming receiver' must be an Xbox 360 receiver. The newer Xbox One wireless receivers are not compatible with Xbox 360 wireless controllers.

    That's a negative. You can use Xbox One controllers on an Xbox One console and using the newer

    wireless adapter for Windows 10    . The X360 controller is programmed to work on Windows PCs, but relies on its own 'Xbox 360 Controller for Windows Wireless Adapter'. These can be found cheaply, second hand. Here are some useful links, for you:
