Is someone masking my GT? Getting random msgs

Over the past few weeks I’ve been receiving msgs from other xbox players that I’m not even playing with. At first I thought it was spam, but they are specific in game requests like “use your ult”, “why arent you pulling the flag”, “shoot the guy” etc. I
will check the profiles of people that are sending them to me and most of the time I dont even own the game they are

playing. One guy told me that he was clicking on the gamercard and it was bringing him to my profile. So my question is, is someone masking their gamertag with my tag? Is that a thing now? Or am I getting some kind of glitch that my profile is popping up
instead of someone elses tag? It’s happened too many times to be a mistake anymore.

Hello Ice,

To answer your question, no this would not occur from someone playing a cross-platform title as they would still need to sign in with your credentials.

In any case, the most logical explanations to this is another person signing into your account and using it as their own, or the two gamertags are very, very similar.

Have you checked the recent sign-in activity in case there are any anomalies?

Contact Xbox Customer Support. When you do so make sure you have the link to this forums thread with you. Let them know that you would like to get this matter investigated and
hopefully resolved.

You can also report this problem using the Xbox Insider Hub app so we can investigate it further:

On your console, install the
Xbox Insider Hub app (if you don’t already have it).
Hold down the Xbox button on the controller.
On the power menu, select Report a problem.
Describe the problem in detail, including when it happened, if you saw any specific error codes or messages, and if you were using any specific games, software, hardware, or accessories when you encountered the problem.

Sounds like it may be a routing issue for people, have you tried asking those people the gamertag they selected when they pulled you up? Maybe its a specific account.

I have experienced this where I click on someone's gamertag but it takes me to a different gamertag's profile.

you tried removing and redownloading your profile
How to add or remove a Microsoft account on Xbox One . Give it a try and let us know with a reply how it goes.

Can you provide us with the number of messages you've received like these and how many different users have sent them to you?
