  1. Is my warranty replacement console new or refurbished

I started a repair ticket on my 1TB Series S console that was purchased brand new in box from target about 3 months ago roughly, it was placed In a well vented area, never mistreated and always kept up to date. I turned it off after a night of gaming and returned the next morning to no display, no controller binding and it would shut off after roughly 30 seconds. I tried all recommended power cycles and cooldowns nothing worked. Sent it in to have warranty repair (obviously no brainer) and they had it for roughly a day before listing a new device and sending it back I just wanted to know if the device coming back is new or if I should be worried about getting a refurbished one that will unexpectedly do the same thing in a short period of time.

    :)

Is my warranty replacement console new or refurbished

    Hi again Boostd_Nick

If the device has the status "In Transit", it means that the replacement is on the way.

You can also check the status of your replacement on the Microsoft website. To do this, follow these steps:

    -Go to the Microsoft website.
-Click on the profile icon and select "Purchases and orders".
-In the order list, find the order for the device you sent for repair.
-If the order has the status "Shipped", it means that the replacement is on the way.

In your case, the fact that the virtual agent has told you that your device was not returned and that a replacement is in transit means that you can be sure that the replacement is on the way.

The fact that the replacement serial number is different from the device you sent also confirms that your device was not successfully repaired or returned. In short, it may be that if it is a new console, it is most likely.

Also, once the replacement arrives, you can check the serial number to confirm. You can also check the device warranty to confirm that your current warranty has been applied.

Is my warranty replacement console new or refurbished

Logging into Microsoft my old device is displayed on my list but a new one I didn’t recognize was added, conversing with the virtual agent revealed my device was not shipped back and a replacement is in transit I just wanted to know if there was a way to check before it arrives.

Is my warranty replacement console new or refurbished

Hi Boostd_Nick, my name is Jhon, and will be a pleasure help you

The replacement console you receive will likely be new. Microsoft has a policy of replacing defective devices with new devices, as long as the device is within warranty.

However, you may receive a refurbished console. In this case the console would have been checked and repaired so that it works like new. Microsoft has a strict refurbishment process that ensures refurbished consoles are safe and working properly.

To find out if your replacement console is new or refurbished, you can look at the box. If the box has a warranty seal it means that the console is new. If the box does not have a warranty seal, it means that the console is reconditioned.

You can also look at the console itself. If the console is in perfect condition it means it is new. If the console has signs of wear or damage, it means it has been refurbished.

In your case, you will probably receive a new console. The fact that it only took Microsoft a day to repair its console suggests that the problem was easy to fix. A difficult-to-fix issue is more likely to require more time to repair, which would give Microsoft more time to restore the console.

However, if you are worried about receiving a refurbished console, you can always contact Microsoft customer support for more information. They will be able to confirm whether the replacement console is new or refurbished.

    best regards, Jhon

I also forgot to say, they have applied my current warranty which expires in October of 2024 to the console that is being sent back as a replacement. Confirming the serial number is different than my device I sent in shows that mine was not successfully repaired and sent back.

    Hi Cardinal,

Any replacement, comes with a refurbished console. You also get a 90 day warranty on that refurbished console. Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
