Is my series s supposed to get this hot?

I've read around that the series s does get quite hot. Mines out in the open its lying flat but if i touch the black screen it seem very hot which is just something that is making me paranoid. Its so hot that i'd expect the fan to be going a little crazy,
which i would be ok with...but the fan is casually blowing out of the black vent you can barley feel the air...is that normal?

    Edit: found this -

"Appropriately, the Xbox Series S with its less-powerful components is the coolest out of the three. The SoC die size is measured at
    197.05 mm², the cooling fan is 120 mm x 14 mm, and the supposed temperatures are “estimate” 47 °C/116 °F and “peak” 58 °C/136 °F. "

so im guessing that its normal? still I would be a bit more relived if the fan felt liek it was doing more even if it was a bit more noisy but thats just my opinion...i guess noisy fan isnt something people like.

Has any one had issues with Xbox Series S overheating? I am on my 3rd console and have had same issue with all 3 with no help or good results from Microsoft.

If it's the third console how is your space

It's important not to block the vents and not on carpet

O have floating glass shelves with all my console vents pointed sideways

    This is a series x

So your series s should be standing up

As George mentioned consoles are supposed to get got

They dont reach pc level hot 65-75 degrees

If you have an enclosed cabinet that is full remove extra items as blocking the vents will cause shutdown

Or move the console to an more open area

Xbox Series S Fan isn't humming like normal.

So usually when I play on my series s the fan makes a loudish noise....
The Series S, just like the Series X is designed to be quite, in normal gaming (even when play X|S optimised games) the Series S fan should not be audible. It should be pretty much silent.

Have you changed the location of where your console is located? These consoles get warm (hot even), this is normal. So their location is actually more important than hearing the fan spinning.

    Xbox series s gets hot

    Heat is entirly normal.

However unlike others have speculated, the Series S is designed with a giant vent right above the heat sink for a reason, to get the heat out. Depending on what game you’re playing and whst. You’re doing, more heat is generated

yet my pc with air cooling only and running a stress test maxed gpu and cpu runs cool in comparison. cpu maxes out at 62 degrees and the 3080ti hits 68 degrees.

the series s is a little box that does not provide the best of cooling and is also running full tilt running the games best it can, unfortunately showing its age already.
If the PC case is designed well enough, then it is surprising how cool air cooling can keep a system....my system runs miles cooler than my old one despite having less fans and only a CPU fan cooler (versus liquid). It only has a 2060 Super but I used to run that at 95% usage for hours on end and the exhaust air still ran cool, albeit with the fans running at max

The Series S kind of reminds me of the bargain basement PC cases you can get which have almost zero airflow...components just run so much hotter
