Is My Seagate Harddrive & XBox One X Left To Sleep Together Safe?

I just wanted to put my mind at ease about my 8T Seagate harddrive. It's connected to my XBox One X and both were switched on, but went to sleep. I was due to get to the end of Call Of Duty World At War, but was in too much pain. My recent mission, to play through all of the Halos for the first time, accomplished ✔️ (outstanding, except for 2) and all the Call Of Duties before I go into labour. COD 4 ✔️ Superb, even with the annoying controls, this one....same annoying controls, not as good, but not terrible.

I had a few goes on Halo 1, 2 & 3, but never tried any COD back in the day, when the games first came out and my son & daughter had them on disk. I didn't have the time back then to properly get acquainted with these gems, but now I do. Anyway, I've been laying down all afternoon in discomfort (practice contractions and twins moving) and the green light has been coming on and I've heard it whizzing around then stopping, then the light goes off. It's done this quite a few times and is still doing so on and off. They are both still in sleep mode.

To accomplish the above mission, I bought Halo Anniversary pack digitally, but also uploaded via physical disk, all original 360 games I bought for myself for both franchises. This also includes a couple remastered versions for Xbox One via disk.

Am I right in assuming that my hardware is just updating my games and apps as they come up? I have the automatic update option ticked in my settings to facilitate this.

I was also concerned and wondering, if they are susceptible to being corrupted? If so, should I switch everything off when I'm in sleep mode and not leave them in sleep mode and potentially vulnerable to maliciousness like hacking and other such tech evil doing?

Or, is it safe?

I am feeling better thanks so managed to just finish COD World At War. Played Nacht Der Untoten before, but still have the other 3 Zombie maps to do though.

I don't usually leave them in sleep mode either. The only time, was when having to update the cross gen version of COD Modern Warfare 2 - 7 hours to install : ( due to its ludicrous 185GB + file size - and today. Wish it was as quick as the 360 version I also installed.

I always turn everything off from the switches on my surge protector when I go to bed. It's good to know that on the odd occasions I have left them in sleep mode, they were fine.

Hope you are feeling better now and not in as much discomfort.

There should be nothing wrong with putting on sleep mode. Personally, I dont do it for long periods of time but thats just me. Its unlikely your console will be hacked in sleep mode.

I use a Seagate 6tb external harddrive for my own console. A 4tb harddrive for the bedroom console and my son has a 2tb on his console. Ive had no issues with Seagate and wouldn't go anywhere else

1 other question the XBOX series X internal hard drive 1TB can Microsoft allow you to upgrade to 2TB internal storage or say 3TB or 4TB as many new games uses nearly 100 GB each so if you have 10 games the harddrive easily fills up I feel Microsoft should of made the Xbox series X internal harddrive expandable so you can increase the internal storage space of the device please don't confuse with card slots on the back of the console for Seagate expansion drive
