Is my console a genuine Project Scorpio?

Hi.

In 2021 I bought a Xbox One X console, used, through an online listing. I received the console, with a controller, and everything works fine.

Now I am about to sell it and realized the console I have has a top cover full of dots, with the green Project Scorpio label printed on the front. I had no idea there was a special edition with that and never cared for it. But now, checking prices to list mine, I came to this.

It came on a regular Xbox One X box (in fact, the serial on the box does not match the serial on the console) and a regular controller, without the Project Scorpio print.

Another thing that I see is that it has a "service date" sticker on the back, with the year 2019. I understand Project Scorpio was released in 2017.

So... either:

- previous owner had an original Project Scorpio console, serviced in 2019, and then sold it on a different box; or

- it's a regular Xbox One X console, on a different regular box, that was serviced in 2019 and had a Project Scorpio top case installed.

As far as I could check, there are no differences in the OS version installed and no public lists to check the serial number for that information.

Any other clue on how I could check if the console is indeed a Project Scoprio special edition or not?

there is no hardware difference, the board is identical to the regular versions, it was just a special case and printing on the controller.

Microsoft should be able to verify it using the serial number.

But I don't have much faith that any Microsoft employee would check this forum and verify that.

You'll find the serial number of the console under settings - system - console info.

If it fits with the number on the case you should have a Scorpio.

If you wanna sell it just describe it as honest as possible.
