    Is Microsoft ever going to add more backwards compatible Xbox 360 games?


    Hi everyone, I'm curious if anyone has heard anything about Microsoft adding more backwards compatible Xbox 360 games. Are they ever going to add more? There are still a lot of older games I would like to play and revisit. I especially want skate 2.

    They've hinted at it and have gone as far as to say that they'd really like to add more, but there's not been any confirmation to date on any additional games being added to backward compatibility. My guess (and it's only a guess) would be that there might be a trickle of titles added at some point, particularly titles published by MS themselves if there aren't licensing issues involved. I too would love to see Skate 2 come to BC.

    I wonder whether they were planning to sort out more titles but then the pandemic hit and it threw their plans out as staff had to work from home or needed moving to different departments to cover increased demand

    There are too many Xbox 360 games to add to the Backwards Compatibility and add the fact that it cost money for Microsoft to add games to Backwards Compatibility.

    .........

    In the long run, the only way that the Xbox One's Backwards Compatibility will replace the Xbox 360 is if all of its games are Backwards Compatible, a feat that could be done but most likely won't happend.

    My guess is that Microsoft will mostly focus on the popular titles with a sprinkle of not so popular titles every now and then.

    Xbox Backwards Compatibility with Arcade

    Not all Xbox 360 or Xbox 360 Arcade titles are backwards compatible.

    On their E3 showcase, they also mentioned, they stopped the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility program to concentrate on making Project Scarlett backwards compatible with the Xbox One game catalogue.

    It is unknown if they will add more Xbox 360 or original Xbox titles after Project Scarlett is launched.

    But still: even if "Islands of Wakfu" isn't backwards compatible yet, seeing that it was published by Microsoft Game Studios, you might try to contact
    Xbox and the
    Xbox Game Studios on their social media channels

    I doubt they will ever add the 360 versions of those games to the backwards compatibility list as those games have their very own Xbox One versions.
