Is Lego Lord of the Rings going to be Backwards Compatible for Xbox One and X/S anytime soon?

The backwards compatibility program is currently suspended with no guarantee it will resume. Licensed games are always dependent ona variety of contracts, and it is up to the publisher to clear those rights and put the game into the program

Lego Lord of the Rings is backward compatible. It was one of the last batch of games to be made backward compatible. As for Need For Speed Carbon, that isn't compatible, and won't be ever backward compatible either. As Smwutches stated, the backward compatible program has ended, so no more games are being added.

Hold on, they came out with a Lord of the Rings Lego game? When...I'm super late huh? Lol

This isn't incorrect.

The Publishers/Developers did pull those games from stores but have since renewed their license, these games are currently for sale again and can be bought on Steam, both Lego The Lord of the Rings and Lego The Hobbit.

Lego The Hobbit has also returned to the Microsoft store for Xbox One and Playstation Store for PS4, but Lego The Lord of the Rings has not returned to either store.

It's not unreasonable to ask for its return as its currently the only core Lego title that isn't backwards compatible, excluding Lego Rock Band which requires external peripherals.
