    Is it possible to setup xbox one without hdmi connection?


    I reset my xbox one because the hdmi port or controller is broken but I was able to stream using my laptop or xbox app. I thought reseting the xbox might fix it but now I cannot connect and setup since I reset the xbox. Is there any solution you can suggest aside from getting the hdmi port fixed?

    Unfortunately there isn't another way. You need to get the HDMI fixed to set up the console.

    Your receiver looks a lot like the Onkyo one I have. Without knowing the rest of your setup, what I have is the Xbox One HDMI going into the receiver (as well as the BD player, Cable box & Xbox 360) and then an HDMI cable in the HDMI out slot to the TV.

    What is the rest of your setup? And how are you connecting everything to your TV?

    I assume you are using an Xbox One console. The most basic connection setup with your Onkyo receiver would just be:

    Xbox One --> HDMI --> Onkyo Receiver -->
    HDMI --> TV

    The labels over the HDMI-inputs on your receiver are merely "suggestions", possibly to help you stay organized with the cabling. However, you will likely want to connect your Xbox One to HDMI inputs 1-3, as they have HDCP 2.2. This will especially prevent
    errors when watching content in 4K (if you have the Xbox One S).

    I have both my console and soundbar plugged into my TV. My Xbox One S is connected to HDMI 1 and my soundbar is connected to HDMI 2 (ARC). It's the recommended setup.

    It's also the exact same setup as before with my old Xbox One.

    Again, with this setup I am not able to get surround sound on the S, which didn't happen with the non-S.
