    Is it possible to merge Xbox accounts?


    I created an Xbox account back in about 2008 and played on it for about 6 years. Took a break for a few years and wanted to get back on Xbox, the only problem was I couldn't remember the email address used to create the original account. So I just created a new account. I've been using the new account for about 6 or 7 years at this point when, out of the blue, I remembered the email address used for the other account and was able to log in to it.

    Now I'm curious if there is any way to merge the two accounts to keep the history from the old account and attach it to the new account? I would also like to transfer the gamertag from the old account to the new account. When I try and make the change via the gamertag change tool, I receive the "This gamertag is not allowed" error, which is weird, considering it is a currently active gamertag.

    Anything that I can do to make this happen? Or am I stuck with two separate accounts now?

    not possible, the xbox account IS the microsoft account, they were merged to one identity years ago.

    Hi there,

    regarding the initial question about Merging accounts, I'm afraid that is not possible.

    Since it seems to be a complex issue I advise is to contact Xbox Support again regarding the issue, so they can take an in depth look on what exactly causing the current issue, so they can advise what steps are needed to try and fix the issue.

    There is no way to merge accounts, Not sure if you call support for GFWL if they will be able to do anything for you. But its worth a shot.

    Unfortunately, you can't merge accounts or transfer data from one to another.
