Sincerely, I'm not sure I understood your question. If you are referring to the screenshots saved on your PC, you should find them inside of
C:\Users\"YOUR NAME" or "PC NAME"\AppData\Roaming\Bungie\DestinyPC\screenshots.

Of course, if you have used the same PC throughout these years.

Absolutely, it would help to see the screenshot - the format of the message, location etc. can help narrow down the possible channels through which the message came.

I thought for certain after I located an upgrade for the app (in game) it would show something, but nothing.

Not cool. I've seen screenshots of what we possibly should see doing some internet searches, but haven't been able to get anything going myself.
