Is it normal for an XBOX Series X to have a loud noise?

The loud volume only comes when playing Fortnite or other games which I usually play 4K at 120hz. The sound of the fan is evident even when sitting 3 meters away. Could it be that I am putting it horizontally in a stereo cabinet but there is at least 5 inch space from the 3 sides of the console.

I have put the console outside the cabinet and the loud fan noise completely disappeared! It seems the whole problem was due to the fact it was located inside the cabinet. The xbox is now almost soundless. Thanks.

Please try putting it in a vertical position to start comparing.

From my perspective, your fan is working as expected, I would be worried if I wasn’t able to hear the fan working or if the fan is doing strange noises.

However, you may want to get your device inspected by Microsoft or a certified technical center if you want to discard any hardware issues.

Yes, I will try to do that and check if the sound of the fan gets lower. And so far, I haven't received any error messages on the console.

On another, note, when I first used the console during the first 3 months or so, it was extremely quiet while playing the same games and it was still located inside the same cabinet, so this is why I thought there could be something wrong with the fan.
