    is it illegal to pirate a game i technically own?


    Pentiment i bought gamepass just to get disappointed that i cant download the game so i decided to pirate the game i hate do it but i dont have another choice and technically i own it for a month

    in some countries it is perfectly legal to make a backup of a disc you own, this must be destroyed if you give the game away.

    but to run said game backup would go against the terms of the current software on the console which gives you access to online etc, therefore you would make your console unable to go online if you altered that software to play the backup and will be banned from Microsoft's servers.

    Alright. I've had enough.

    Selling ISO mods? Technically they are selling "software as their own", which I believe is a violation of the Digital Millennium Rights Act (or something). I don't believe modding is illegal. I've read a couple of articles on the topic and they all say that
    "modding itself is not illegal; it just voids the warranty". What they do say is illegal is "selling the software as their own or selling pirated copies". This is what is deemed ILLEGAL, so it's anyone's guess.

    Emulation in itself is perfectly legal. Distributing pirated ISO files is illegal.

    Downloading old games is technically illegal, but concerns 'Civil Law' not 'Criminal Law'. There is little chance of you going to prison because you downloaded 'Ms. Pacman' for an Atari 2600 emulator for example.

    @GG you and your brother did this with your own Xboxes... split the cost of games... that is what it is intended for...

    and Full... not pirating if it is legal... pirating is the illegal downloading of software for personal use. The games that are shared are PAID for and are tied to the OWNERS xbox and his name...
