    Is it against terms of use if I make an account with a different region than mine?


    I want to buy Minecraft, but due to multiple reasons I can't use a credit card so my only option is gift cards. Unfortunately all gift cards available to me are US region locked. So is it okay if I make an account with the US as the region even though I don't live there?

    Yes, it is against the terms of use, and it's not okay to make an account for a region you do no live in. Even if you had made an American account, when you redeem the code, it would still detect you were not in America by your ip address.

    Remember though that knowingly creating an account for a region you are not in is against the Terms of Use.

    most online sellers let you know what format the game is in, if it says 'not region locked' you can use any format.

    if it says 'NTSC region locked' then it will not work.

    but yes, having an account with a different region is against terms and conditions, so that could be your xbox's funeral.

    BYOB, that is incorrect. Under no circumstances should you ever set your region settings to a region other than the region you are physically located in. This can not only cause issues on your account, but it also goes against the Terms of Service.

    You can use a payment method according to the account region and the store region, however, your region it's currently not supported by Xbox services, this means you can't subscribe from that region that why you are trying to use a different region, but this is against the terms of service as you need to wait until the service it's available in your region
