I have a Seagate Game Drive Hub for Xbox, and I’ve been using it to store and play games on my Xbox One S. I want to delete those games from it, and connect it to my PC to store and play games on it instead. I know it is usable on PC, but if used on Xbox first, has it been irreversibly formatted for Xbox?

    :)

plug into pc, right click start menu and click disk management, find the drive in the list and initialise then create a new partition and format (quick format is fine to use) then you are good to go, ignore previous advice as the drive will not show up in explorer until a new partition is created.

Thank you for the response. Do you know if there is a way to do a factory reset of such drives? I know this one I have is usable on PC, so if I can reset it, wouldn’t I be able to set it up on my PC?

Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

My name is welcome to the community.

Hello SierraSixZero, although the type of formatting of the external disks has to be the same NTFS, the format in which the console saves games is different from the PC, if you have an external disk and use it in a console, you can only use it between consoles.

Even if the game formats were compatible, you would only be able to play games that are Play Anywhere on your PC.

Hello again, you can format your external HD on Xbox or PC, if it is on PC, connect it to the USB port and through Windows Explorer find the HD, it should appear as (D:) or (E:), click with Right-click on it and a sub menu should appear with the option "Format", choose it and choose the NTFS format.

    On Console

Connect your external hard drive to an Xbox One USB port. ...

    Select Format storage device.

Enter a name for the drive using the on-screen keyboard.

Select Install new things here to automatically install future games on this drive.

    Select Format storage device.

I recommend doing it on PC.

Backwards compability for USB 3.0 External hardrives on XBox 360?

Seagate drives are not poor quality. I have used many Seagate drives in PC builds and never seen one fail. The reason they don't work with 360 is that the firmware used by Xbox was not designed for Seagate drives - nothing to do with quality.
