    Native IPv6 Support

    Same question here.

I love my Xbox and the "ipv6 support".

But the required tunneling over ipv4 via teredo is pathetic.

I am on a native ipv6 network. To use party chat I have to leave my ipv6 network and use a virtual ipv4 address, just to use teredo to join the ipv6 network again.

Microsoft; when is native ipv6 support planned for the Xbox one?

    Regards

    -Simon

    IPv6

I have issues with IPv6 myself. My ISP has had it for years now and all my devices in my house have a ipv6 and ipv4. all my devices on my network have the ipv6 local link as well as ipv6 address. Whats messed up is my xbox wont use a IPv6 at all yet my ISP
fully supports it and I can even ping or tracert (trace route) to like google.ca and my network uses IPv6 for that.

Where I run into a problem is with my xbox one only. I ping XboxOne on my local network and it pings the IPv6 local-link address without a problem. sometimes IPv6 just randomly shows up in the network settings on xbox after a few minutes and can stay that
way for awhile or sometimes it'll revert back to IPv4. Sometimes when Say a storm knocks out our local internet and I get disconnected from xbox it'll all of a sudden show a IPv6 address remote and local in the network settings. kinda strange. so far xbox
one is the only one that is giving me IPv6 problems

How do i switch from IPv

    Hi KevinHughes43

Just to add to what Boombaa said, IPv4 and IPv6 work together. You home router and Internet service provider will issue an address for both on your network. IPv6 also works differently on a network, as your devices can use it's own 'stateless' address.

Also, not all services on the internet support the new protocol, this why both are being used at the same time. And just for the record, IPv6 does not make your internet any quicker.

    Why won't my Series S use IPv6?

Thank you for contact us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    Good morning

There could be several reasons why your Xbox Series S is not using IPv6, even though your Xbox One is.

Here are a few possible explanations:

IPv6 may not be enabled on your router's LAN settings. Although your Xbox One is able to use IPv6, it's possible that your router's LAN settings are not configured to use IPv6 by default. This could be the reason why your Xbox Series S is not able to use IPv6.

Your ISP may not support IPv6. Even if your router is configured to use IPv6, your ISP may not support it. If this is the case, your Xbox Series S will not be able to use IPv6.

Your Xbox Series S may not be configured to use IPv6. It's possible that your Xbox Series S is not configured to use IPv6 by default. To check this, go to the network settings on your Xbox Series S and make sure that IPv6 is enabled.

Your network cable may not be capable of supporting IPv6. It's possible that your network cable is not capable of supporting IPv6. If this is the case, you will need to replace your network cable with one that is capable of supporting IPv6.

Your Xbox Series S may not be getting an IPv6 address from your router. Even if IPv6 is enabled on your router, your Xbox Series S may not be getting an IPv6 address from your router. To check this, go to the network settings on your Xbox Series S and check if an IPv6 address is assigned.

I recommend checking these possibilities to try to identify the cause of the issue. You may also want to contact your ISP or the manufacturer of your router or Xbox Series S for further assistance.

    IPv6 and Xbox support

    IPv6 on Xbox One

Xbox One can connect to networks using two protocols that allow devices to transmit information: the traditional IPv4 communications protocol, and its newer version, IPv6. For Xbox One to connect to the internet using IPv6, your home router needs to have
IPv6 enabled, and your internet service provider (ISP) must support IPv6.

    What’s IPv6?

Internet Protocol version 6 is the most current network protocol, bringing several improvements over IPv4. Most important, IPv6 expands the number of possible IP addresses (the unique numbers that represent every device on the internet). And—most useful
for Xbox—the expansion removes the need for
    Network Address Translation (NAT)
, which can interfere with multiplayer gaming and chat over IPv4 networks.

What if my Xbox One isn’t connected using IPv6?

Your Xbox will work normally without IPv6 connectivity. However, for the best possible experience, we recommend enabling IPv6 on your network. Several Xbox One features already make use of IPv6, and we’re building more.

How can I tell if my Xbox is connected using IPv6?

    Here’s how to check:

    1. On your controller, Press the Xbox button
      to open the guide.
    2. Select System > Settings > Network.
    3. Select Network settings.
If your Xbox One has IPv6 connectivity, your Current Network Status will read
IPv4 & IPv6. (To see your actual IP and gateway addresses, select
    Advanced settings.)

My Xbox is using only IPv4. What should I do to add IPv6?

Several home routers support IPv6 but disable it by default. Check the manual for your router, or visit our
    Networking Hardware Information support forum.

My router has IPv6 enabled, but my Xbox is connected on IPv4. What else can I do?

Try contacting your ISP to see if IPv6 is available in your area.
